Contradictory as it might seem, declining habitat is giving us record numbers of ducks this year. This might be good news in the short term, but it emphasizes the need for strong support of wetlands programs. According to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service data, waterfowl production in the area known as the Duck Factory is at a record high 48.6 million. That represents a significant increase from 45.6 million produced last year, and it is 43 percent more than the long-term average. For full story, click here.
