Getting started on BP oil spill repairs

The list of initial projects covered by $1 billion pledged by BP to begin to repair the damage done by the 2010 oil spill includes creating 104 acres of marsh, placing oyster cultch on six public seed beds and upgrading a Grand Isle oyster hatchery. Wetlands and oyster beds are both important natural resources that took serious blows in the disaster. Also fittingly, the state is set to get $28 million of the first $57 million in projects approved by the states' trustees and BP. To read full story, click here.
